From The Australian:
RAY Martin has resigned from the Nine Network after 30 years with the broadcaster.
Martin tonight confirmed he was leaving the network, which he joined in 1978 as a reporter on 60 Minutes.
He said he had been considering leaving Nine for some time.
"As you know, I've talked about this for a year or so," Martin told Sydney radio station 2GB.
"My daughter finishes university in England this year, we are going to see her graduate, take about a month."
The 63-year-old said there was no bad blood between him and Nine.
"It just seemed like the stars are right, it's a good time to do something else, so it's as angry as that."
Martin, a five-time Gold Logie winner, has hosted Nine's Sunday program with Ellen Fanning since the federal election and was due to return to the show this weekend.
He has made no secret of his desire to have his own chat show.
